Dale Huston, 84, of Springfield, died at 9:12 a, Monday, January 20, 2025, at his home. Dale was born, September 5, 1940, in Gibson City, Illinois, son of Frederic (Ted) W. and Dorothy B. (Jardine) Huston. He was married to Judy A. Dube in 1963 at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. He was proceeded in death by his parents and by a brother, Frederic (Bill) W. Huston Jr.
Dale grew up on a livestock farm near Gibson City, Illinois and graduated from the local high school. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agronomy from the University of Illinois. He also graduated from Illinois Bankers Association School of Banking at SIU-Carbondale, from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and the Senior Commercial Lenders School at the University of Oklahoma – Norman, OK.
He received his ROTC commission as a 2nd Lt. while attending the University of Illinois. Dale was a U. S. Army Vietnam Era Veteran, serving from1962 – 1964, in the 6th Missile Battalion (Hawk), 71st, Artillery, Fort Bliss, Texas, and in the active Army Reserves, 1965 – 69.
Dale worked for Fox Valley Production Credit Association, part of the Farm Credit System; the original Illinois National Bank which became First of America Bank, and National City Bank. He retired as Executive Vice President in charge of the Commercial Loan Division and other management responsibilities in 2000, with a total of 32 years with the bank. He joined Geneva Mortgage Corp. as an Associate in 2000, originating commercial real estate loans for various investors. In 2011 he joined Hickory Point Bank as a Senior Relationship Manager, and served on the Bank’s Loan Committee, retiring in 2018, after being in banking for over 50 years.
He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and an Elder and was a Chairman of the Deacon Committee. He also served on the Endowment Committee and the Property Committee and was a chairman of both committees. He was a member of Illini Country Club, Springfield Rotary South and Springfield Downtown Rotary. He served on the Board and was President of the Mental Health Centers of Central Illinois; he served on the Board of the Springfield Chamber of Commerce, where he served on the Audit and Economic Development committees, and was Chairman of the EDC.; was a member and served on the Board of the Springfield Jaycees; served on the Board of the Small Business Growth Corp; and served on the Downtown Springfield, Inc. and Heritage Foundation Boards. He was a member of the Springfield Home Builders Assn. and served on the Board.
Dale is survived by his wife, Judy Huston, son Chad (wife Kara) Huston of Springfield; daughter, Dana Huston of Springfield; three grandchildren, Samuel, Benjamin, and Callista (Callie), of Springfield; a brother, Dennis (wife Irja) Huston of Maumee, Ohio, and two nieces and their families.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, and especially the family trips to the beach and taking his grandchildren to the Eaton Ranch in Wyoming. Dale also particularly enjoyed being involved in banking. His other interests included U of I sports, listening to classic country music, bagpipes, old hymns, and music from the 70’s and 80’s. They also included bird hunting, gardening, reading, family genealogy, and overseeing his farmland.

Funeral Service: 10:00 am, Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Reverend Dr. Blythe Denham Kieffer officiating.
Graveside Service: 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at Burial will follow at Drummer Township Cemetery.
