David Gregory Sprinkle, 45, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. David was born on November 5, 1979, in Decatur, the son of Gary L. Sprinkle and Maureen A. Maton Schaefer.

David is survived by his mother, Maureen A. (Greg) Schaefer of Springfield; sister, Melissa Allen of Springfield; brothers, Brad (Jamie) Sprinkle of Springfield and Jeff Sprinkle of Chatham; step-brother, Jeremy (Corinne) Schaefer, of FL; two nieces, Abigail Allen and Violet Schaefer; four nephews, Brady Sprinkle, Ethan Sprinkle, Chase Sprinkle and Gaige Sprinkle; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Preceding him in death is his father; grandparents, Eleanor and William Henry Sprinkle and Walter and Bobbie Maton; and his beloved pup, Charlie Brown.

David graduated from Springfield High School in 1997. David proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for four years achieving rank as Sergeant.

He lived in Southern CA for over 10 years and worked at iTek Solutions as a Technical Inventory Specialist.

David was a man of faith; he attended mass at various Catholic churches. He loved sports and was a fan of the Fighting Illini, Chicago Bears, Bulls, and the St. Louis Cardinals. David loved his family deeply. He enjoyed family vacations. David cherished his rescue dog Charlie Brown and long walks the family dog, Tucker.

Visitation: 10:30 – 12:30 pm, Friday, December 27, 2024, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral: 12:30 pm, Friday, December 27, 2024, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. A burial will take place at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors.

Memorial contributions may be made to Land of Lincoln Honor Flight.
