Elmer Lee Allgood, 88, of Springfield, IL, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 1:08 pm at St. John’s Hospital. He was born December 20, 1935, in Divernon, IL, the son of Louis Woods Allgood Sr. and Mary Tomko Allgood. He married Veldia Arlene Pierson on October 26, 1957, who preceded him in death on March 12, 2014.

Survivors include his sons, Gary (Mary) Allgood of St. Charles, MO and David (Jodie) Allgood of Springfield; daughter-in-law, Debbie Allgood of Springfield; six grandchildren, Mandy, Kyle, Christopher, Ashley, Sarah, and Brian; six great-grandchildren, Savannah, David Brian III, Sophi Zepp, Gwendolyn, Isla, Tommy Zepp Jr.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceding him in death are his parents; son, Alan Lee Allgood on April 9, 2002; and seven siblings, Louis, Gilbert, Gerald, Joyce, David, and Linda.

Elmer enjoyed gardening, fishing, gospel, bluegrass, and tinkering on cars. He was a great cook and the best father and grandfather to his family.

Elmer worked as a meat cutter for 41 years before he retired from Eisner/Jewel.

Visitation: 10:00  – 11:00 am, Friday, November 8, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home - Springfield.

Funeral Service: 11:00 am, Friday, November 8, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield, with Pastor Mike Harney officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Jacksonville Skilled Nursing and Rehab Activity Fund, 1517 W. Walnut St. Jacksonville, IL 62560.
