Gary F. Williams 84, of Springfield, died at 9:20 am, Saturday, April 27, 2024 at The Bridge Care Suites. He was born May 24, 1939 in Springfield to Wayne F. and Eleanor L. Bissell Williams. He married Cheryl Keran-Armstrong on November 25, 1992 and she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Cynthia Williams of San Antonio, TX; one son, Richard Williams of San Antonio, TX; two step-children, Anne Armstrong- Willett of Cape Coral, FL and John Armstrong of Springfield; two grandchildren, Samantha Montgomery and Heather Williams; one step grandchild, Jacqueline Lutz; one sister, Sharon Knock of Springfield; one brother, Kevin Williams (Sara Thompson) of Kansas and two nieces, Mindy Rubinger and Stacie Knock.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Steven Williams and one infant brother.

Gary was a USAF Veteran serving with the Fire Department and as Broadcasting Superintendent, retiring after twenty-two years of service. After retirement, he worked for PBS at the University of Alaska.

He enjoyed watching racing and was a Chicago Bears Football fan.

Graveside Service: 1 pm, Monday, May 6, 2024 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.
