Gloria M. Bennett 84, of Sherman, died at 2:33 pm, Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at her home. She was born May 25, 1940 in Springfield, Illinois to Harold and Alice (Fuller) Nation. She married Harold A. Bennett on February 1, 1959 and he preceded her in death on August 27, 2010.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Carl Bennett; sister, Carolyn McIntosh; two brothers-in-law, James McIntosh and Richard Fernandes and sister-in-law, Barbara Nation.

Survivors include one daughter, Annette (Don) Drinkwater of Sherman; two granddaughters, Tanya Cooley (Eli Courtney) of Illiopolis and Barbra (Travis) Charles of Sherman; four great grandchildren, Connor, Hunter, Logan and Skylar; one sister, Barbara Fernandez of Jacksonville and Linda (Dallas) Comfort of Pueblo West, CO; one brother, Harold Nation of Marysville, WA and several nieces and nephews.

Gloria was a member of Living Faith Baptist Church. She retired in 2000 from the State of Illinois, where she worked as a Supervisor in the Circuit Breaker Program.

She was an animal lover and loved crafting, cooking, camping and spending time with the grandchildren. She enjoyed volunteering at the church.

Visitation: 10:30 am – 12:30 pm, Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home – Sherman.

Funeral Service: 12:30 pm, Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Staab Funeral Home – Sherman with Pastor Mark Emerson officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Living Faith Baptist Church or Animal Protective League.
