Joseph A. Geiger, 98 of Springfield, died at 8:12 am, May 1, 2024 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born January 8, 1926 in Clinton County, IL, the son of Joseph and Frances (Kleber) Geiger. He married Dorothy Wright in 1948 and she preceded him in death on September 6, 2019.

He is also preceded in death by his parents.

 Surviving are his two sons, David (Deborah) Geiger of Murphysboro and Michael (Virginia) Geiger of Springfield; three grandchildren, Grace Geiger of Washington, DC, Joseph (Mary) Geiger of Midland, TX, and Hannah (Jon) Larson of Malcom, NE and three great grandchildren, George, Lydia, and William.

Joseph is a United States Marine Corps veteran having served during WWII. He had retired as an Illinois State Trooper after 29 years of service.

Joe was a master fisherman, a talented wood worker, and an accomplished gardener. Far above and beyond those hobbies, he was a beautiful person whose greatest joy was his family who he loved dearly, and who dearly loved him.

Graveside Service: 12:00 pm, Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
