Madeline A. Huffman, 84, of Springfield, IL, passed away at her home at 4:22 am, Saturday, October 12, 2024. She was born on June 15, 1940, in Springfield to Carl and Jessie (Emrick) Huffman.

She is survived by her daughter, Ada (Jerry) Myers of Springfield; three sons, Carl (Lucy) Gallaher, Jack Gallaher, and Jesse Gallaher all of Springfield; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Joann Larson, Diane Judd and Bonnie Furhman; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Jack Gallaher; brother, Carl “Roy” Huffman; son-in-law, Jack Swartwood, and daughter-in-law, Darcie Gallaher.

Madeline was a lifelong resident of Springfield. She retired from the Department of Family and Human Services where she licensed foster homes.

Madeline loved her four German Shepherd dogs: Sadie, Arthur, Custer, and Josie. Besides snuggling and playing with her furry friends, she enjoyed sewing, spending time with her family, and collecting American Indian memorabilia.

Visitation: 11:30 am -1:30 pm Friday, October 18, 2024, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Graveside: 2:00 pm, Friday, October 18, 2024, in Springfield, with Pastor Adrian Bateman at Roselawn Memorial Park.
