Nancy Marie Alsman, 87, of Effingham, IL, formerly of Springfield, IL, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Lakeland Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. She was born on November 3, 1937 in Williamsville, IL. She married the love of her life, Loren Dale “Zeke” Alsman on August 29, 1955, and he preceded her in death on January 18, 1992.

Nancy was also preceded in death by her parents, John Knapp and Margie Rogers Knapp Landreth; and her son, John Dale “JD” Alsman.

She is survived by her daughters, Ronda Lynn Cox (Russ) of Claremont, NC, and Rita Ann Nibbe (Kevin) of Effingham, IL; grandchildren, Sara Kym Ross, Nola Lin Lee (Chris), Matthew Dale Huff (Dana), Melodie Jane Miller (Brady), Vivianna Marie Cox, Josh Nibbe, Jason Nibbe, and Shannon Nibbe; and great-grandchildren, Cameron James Ross (Riley), Ansley Marie Ross, Quentin Alexander Ross, Sadie Elise Ross, Dylan Matthew Huff, Elaina Marie Huff, Emily Alece Miller, Zeke Loren Miller, Braxton Thayer Lee Cox, Boston Alexander Cox.

Nancy was a graduate of Beecher City High School in 1954 and then went on to live in Springfield for most of her life raising her family with Zeke. She was an administrative secretary for the Springfield School District 186, beginning at Staley Elementary School in 1965, and then retiring with the district in the mid-90s.

She was a strong believer in her faith in Christ, which helped sustain her after the loss of her son and husband earlier in her life. She loved her shopping trips and traveling, but above all spending time with her beloved family, especially her grandchildren.

Visitation: 9:00 – 10:30 am, Friday, January 3, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 10:30 am, Friday, January 3, 2025, at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield, with Ben Alexander officiating. A private burial will take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
